The five-year-old declared this loudly, and very seriously and matter-of-fact.
I was struck by her logic and ego,
so then I and the mother laughed.
And her daughter kept on going about like she said nothing wrong.
There’s validity in her argument,
so we just went along.
I remember my cousin telling our Grandmother when he was young: “I do to have self control. I just don’t want to use it right now.”
Nice
I’m going to guess that your grandmother did not know how to immediately respond to that kind of statement. Loving how authority can still be deflected, undermined, and/or one-upped as demonstrated by your cousin.
My husband is not so amused…….this is me…I seem to think I usually know better, except in doing our taxes!
I think this combination of your husband’s seriousness and your confidence can be a good healthy balance. At least it creates and adds color and new hopefully forward-moving challenges and accomplishments to the relationship
